Help Mike Stop Smoking (Expired)Submitted by
brian on May-30-2007 at 2:54:58 PM PDT
My brother in law Mike K. is a great guy. Really nice, helpful, generous etc. He's also a chain smoker. I'm hoping a little extra motivation is all he needs to kick the habit. If Mike can stop smoking for 6 months I'll give him $40. Who's with me?

After a day or two of smoking, tell mike to keep all of his ash and fag butts. Transfer all the collected ash and fag butts into a bottle (just enough to fill a pint glass), fill with water and leave to stew for about 5-7 days in the fridge. The water should turn to a dark brown. if not then add more fag ends.
On the day he is ready, pour the concoction into a pint glass - butts and ash included, and he must force himself to drink at least two big gulps - probably making him sick, then down at least half of whatever is left. After probably being sick again, he must use another two mouthfulls and use as mouth wash for at least 30 secs each.
This method is phisically and mentally revolting, which will leave a lasting impression mentally and giving off a physical rejection to ciggarettes. Especially when he feels like smoking again - all that disgusting taste and thought will pobably make him spew at the thought of smoking that fag he has in his hand.
There is no doubt that this will not work. But the participent needs to be strong minded to go through with it.
All the best

First, put yourself in situations where you can not smoke constantly. This will help break down how many smokes you can have. Set a timer if you find yourself in a place where you are free to smoke. Each day cut the time between smokes a bit further apart and take away one smoke. When the amount of smokes are cut in half, switch to the next level down (amount of nicotine in the smoke). So if you smoke regular, then downgrade to lights and so on. When you get down to one extra light smoke once a day, continue for one week. The next week cut it down to one smoke every two days. This is where you do a 180. Get a hold (don't buy) of a smoke that is the strongest on the market and that is your smoke you can have every two days. Trust me, by this time your body has gotten use to not a lot of nicotine and the habit of lighting up has pretty much been drilled out of your routine. When you finally take a drag of the strong smoke, you will make yourself sick because you will react like a non-smoker. You will take how disgusting it is and you will give yourself one hell of a head rush. You will basically just want to not bother with it and quit.
Trust me it works.
so here is the breakdown of someone who smokes 20 regular smokes a day.
Day 1 - 20 regular smokes
Day 2- 19 regular smokes
Day 3- 18 regular smokes
Day 4- 17 regular smokes
Day 5 - 16 regular smokes
Day 6 - 15 regular smokes
Day 7 - 14 regular smokes
Day 8 - 13 regular smokes
Day 9 - 12 regular smokes
Day 10 - 11 regular smokes
Day 11 - 10 regular smokes
Day 12 - 10 Light smokes
Day 13 - 9 Light smokes
Day 14 - 8 Light smokes
Day 15 - 7 Light smokes
Day 16 - 6 Light smokes
Day 17 - 5 Light smokes
Day 18 - 5 Extra-Light smokes
Day 19 - 4 Extra-Light smokes
Day 20 - 3 Extra-Light smokes
Day 21 - 2 Extra-Light smokes
Day 22 - 1 Extra-Light smoke
Day 23 - 1 Extra-Light smoke
Day 24 - 1 Extra-Light smoke
Day 25 - 1 Extra-Light smoke
Day 26 - 1 Extra-Light smoke
Day 27 - 1 Extra-Light smoke
Day 28 - 1 Extra-Light smoke
Day 29 - 1/2 Extra-Light smoke
Day 30 - 1/2 Extra-Light smoke
Day 31 - 1/2 Extra-Light smoke

Day 33 - 1/2 Extra-Light smoke
Day 34 - 1/2 Extra-Light smoke
Day 35 - 1/2 Extra-Light smoke
Day 36 and beyond - 1 Full Extra Strong Smoke
By either Day 36 - 38 he will be making himself sick and will just go cold turkey form this point on
You could ask Mike to see what method he might like to try if he had the support of the mob.
If you do decide to determine success by whether or not he has "quit", the industry defines it as not having a single puff for 30 days. Personally I think getting him some solid help is a more legitimate goal.
There's an incredible pic at http://www.healthbolt.net/2007/06/11/healthbolt-graphics-1-what-happens-to-your-body-if-you-stop-smoking-right-now/ on the effects of smoking as well.
Where does Mike work and what state does he live in? I might have an idea...
first, the person must be willing to do it; otherwise nothing can get them to quit.
then Mike needs to see a doctor and get a prescrition on a medicine.
the medicine does help.
the most difficult time is first three month on medicine and he will need lots of support.
if Mike has a daughter, then he may have a good reason to quit for her.
